A massive 5.8 Richter scale earthquake hit parts of Pakistan on Friday, April 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM IST. The earthquake was felt in prominent Pakistani cities such as Islamabad and Lahore.

Epicenter found in Punjab province

The epicenter of the quake was in the Punjab province of Pakistan at coordinates 33.63°N latitude and 72.46°E longitude, and the depth of the quake was 10 km, according to the National Centre for Seismology. Seismic activity has been reported from the region as a result of tectonic plate movement.

Tremors felt in India

Tremors did not stop at Pakistan, with people in other states in India, such as New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir, experiencing minor tremors. But there are no reports of damage or casualties at the moment.
